ABAQUS maximum DOFs on 32-bit machine.

Today, I had handled one job on my home PC (AMD Sempron 2800+, 512MB) for check-run. The number of DOFs was over 400,000, and the minimum memory required should be at least 10 GBytes, because the complex geometric model and dozens of contact pairs in thermal-mechanical coupled FEA. The following error messages showed up in the *.dat file:

"***ERROR: MINIMUM MEMORY NEEDED TO RUN THE JOB IS MORE THAN 3 GIGABYTES. THE HARDWARE IN USE SUPPORTS ALLOCATION OF AT MOST 3 GIGABYTES OF MEMORY. THE JOB MUST BE RUN ON HARDWARE THAT SUPPORTS 64-BIT ADDRESSING. LOOK AT THE MEMORY ESTIMATES SECTION OF .dat FILE FOR FURTHER INFORMATION."


This means that for 32-bit PC (3GB~2^32), there is nothing I can do for this kinds of problems, probably. Actually this is the first time I have met the limitation of computers due to the size of problems. Tomorrow I will try the
parallel computation on the UNIX server. The commond reads "abaqus job=name parallel=domain domains=n1 cpus=n2", and I hope this will be the possible solution for my project. The last solution we have would be to reduce the model size, losing the precision for obtaining the efficiency of the calculation.
