This article has been removed at the request of the authors and/or the Editor-in-Chief. Please see Elsevier Policy on Article Withdrawal http://www.elsevier.com/locate/withdrawalpolicy.

Reason: This article has been retracted at the request of the Editors-in-Chief as the authors have plagiarized parts of an unpublished discussion article submitted to the Journal of Applied Mechanics. This article also contains significant similarity with parts of text, written by the same author(s), that have appeared in Int. J. Solids Struct., 44 (2007), pp. 6987–6998, J. Appl. Mech., 74 (2007), pp. 382–387, Int. J. Solids Struct., 44 (2007), pp. 436–446 and J. Appl. Mech., 74 (2007), pp. 916–922. Furthermore, some of these articles contain significant parts of text that appear in additional papers by the same author(s) which have been published in these and other journals.

One of the conditions of submission of a paper for publication is that authors declare explicitly that their work is original and has not appeared in a publication elsewhere. Re-use of any data should be appropriately cited. As such this article represents a severe abuse of the scientific publishing system. The scientific community takes a very strong view on this matter and we apologize to readers of the journal that this was not detected during the submission process.
